As our Area Finance Manager, you’ll lead and shape the financial direction of our operations across the Deco Business in UK, Ireland, and Australia—bringing clarity to complex data, guiding strategic decisions, and supporting strong financial compliance. This position can either be based in Darwen and offer a hybrid working model, or can be based remote with occasional travel to the Darwen site. A finance leadership role with global scope This is a senior role with expanded leadership responsibility. While some day-to-day tasks remain familiar, the scope is significantly broader. You will take ownership of additional legal entities, including the decorative paints business in Australia, and provide oversight across our growing finance structure. This means managing complexity, driving local accountability, and leading through transformation. You’ll guide a geographically diverse team and work in close partnership with our Global Business Services (GBS) team located in Poland and China. A background in auditing or financial control is essential, alongside a solid understanding of statutory and tax compliance. This is a great opportunity for a confident finance leader who thrives in a change environment and can adapt quickly to evolving needs across regions. Key responsibilities: Lead and develop a team spanning the UK, and Australia Take full financial ownership for multiple legal entities, including the remaining decorative business in Australia Ensure compliance with statutory and tax requirements across all jurisdictions Partner with GBS to ensure efficient delivery of finance operations and reporting Challenge and support local finance teams to build future capabilities Drive local auditor and ensure robust internal controls Lead through transformation and continuous improvement in a dynamic environment What helps in this role: Background in auditing, financial control, or a senior accounting/controlling role Recognised accounting qualification Experience leading in complex, multinational environments Knowledge of Australia’s finance regulations is a plus Ability to lead with confidence, autonomy and collaboration Experience working in or alongside GBS structures Strong understanding of tax, compliance and statutory accounting Adaptability and a proactive approach to change leadership Why join Crown Paints and Hempel?
