Role Overview
The Wild Duck is seeking a talented and motivated Junior Sous Chef to support the leadership of our kitchen team. This is a hands-on role working closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to deliver high-quality, seasonal dishes while maintaining excellent kitchen standards. The successful candidate will play an important role in day-to-day kitchen operations, team development, and ensuring a consistently exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the daily running of the kitchen.
* Assist with the preparation and delivery of high-quality, seasonal dishes in line with the restaurant’s standards.
* Help lead, motivate, and develop the kitchen team during service.
* Maintain excellent food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness standards at all times.
* Assist with stock control, ordering, and minimising kitchen waste.
* Ensure all food is prepared and presented to the highest quality.
* Step in to lead sections and services when required.
* Support training and development of junior kitchen staff.
* Work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure smooth and efficient service.
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
* Has previous experience as a Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef in a quality kitchen environment.
* Demonstrates strong organisational and communication skills.
* Has a genuine passion for seasonal ingredients and elevated pub dining.
* Works calmly and efficiently in a fast-paced service environment.
* Maintains high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and presentation.
* Is reliable, proactive, and eager to grow within a supportive kitchen team.
