Overview
Sports Assistant / TA - SEMH school - Rochdale area | Step Teachers. You'll join a caring special‑needs provision in the heart of Rochdale that supports learners aged roughly 4 to 16, many of whom face social, emotional, and mental health challenges (SEMH). The setting spans multiple local sites and is committed to building a nurturing atmosphere where every pupil feels safe, valued, and motivated to succeed.
Role and responsibilities
In the sports department you'll help deliver a practical, well‑rounded physical education curriculum that encourages confidence, creativity, and resilience. With access to indoor and outdoor facilities and a strong emphasis on hands‑on, exploratory learning, you'll work alongside teachers and support staff to design inclusive, active lessons and clubs that cater to individual needs and abilities. You'll also foster positive relationships and support pupils' personal development through teamwork, perseverance, and healthy habits. You may be required to support in other lessons as required.

Role: Sports Assistant / TA supporting children aged 11-16 from vulnerable backgrounds with Social & Emotional needs (SEMH) with Sports and other lessons when required.
Start: ASAP
Pay: £95-£105/day (PAYE, based on experience)
Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:30am-3:30pm

What you need
* At least 3 months' experience supporting young people in sports or in school or ideally both
* A CV covering your last 10 years
* Right to work in the UK
* Photo ID and proof of address
* Enhanced DBS (or willing to apply)
* References covering the last 2 years
* Passion for helping young people thrive
