Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to participate in a study within the busy and dynamic Cardiology team across Cardiff, Vale, & Swansea.
The post holder will support the RSA-PACE clinical study, a first-in-man investigator-led trial examining sinus arrhythmia through pacing in patients with heart failure.
The study is ongoing within the cardiothoracic directorate, sponsored by Ceryx Medical and managed by CEDAR.
Main duties of the job
There is no out-of-hours commitment, but opportunities may exist to join the cardiology SpR on-call rota.
The principal duties include running a clinical trial of pacing in cardiac surgery patients, identifying suitable trial patients, coordinating investigations, ensuring eligibility, obtaining consent, administering therapies, reviewing patients, collecting data, and planning follow-up. The trial will also be conducted at Morriston Hospital, Swansea, with similar responsibilities.
You will work closely with your academic supervisor (Professor Yousef), cardiac surgeons, and anesthetists at both sites, and collaborate with the clinical trial management unit in CEDAR to ensure proper data collection and documentation.
