The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, highly motivated and talented person to join our team in the Hampshire Futures service, supporting our statutory NEET (Not in Education, Employment and Training) duties. A significant part of the permanent position will involve working with care experienced young people to progress and sustain positive outcomes.
There are also several other fixed term part time career adviser opportunities available.
Hampshire Futures is part of the Participation & Lifelong Learning service, within Hampshire County Council’s Children’s Services Directorate.
What you’ll do:
This key position holds the responsibility for working with young people to prevent them becoming NEET and with those who are NEET to secure positive destinations. You will have extensive experience of working with and supporting young people including those with care experience, provide impartial, personalised advice and guidance tailored to individual needs, helping them to explore opportunities, understand pathways, and overcome barriers. Experience of working with young people with SEN/SEND will be welcomed. You will work as part of a team to ensure the Service meets its obligations to complete its statutory NEET and September Guarantee data returns.
What we’re looking for:
1. Qualified and committed: You’ll hold a Level 6 Careers qualification (or be willing to complete it within two years), a Level 4 qualification in Guidance (or equivalent), and at least a Level 3 qualification in English and Maths.
2. Experienced in supporting young people: You’ll have a strong track record of delivering services in schools, colleges, or local authorities, particularly with care-experienced young people, care leavers, Looked After Children, and those with SEND.
3. Knowledgeable and skilled: You’ll bring excellent understanding of participation legislation, safeguarding, and the challenges young people face in post-16 transitions, along with strong organisational, communication, and digital skills.
4. Team-oriented and values-driven: You’ll be a collaborative team player who contributes to quality assurance, demonstrates professional behaviours, and is committed to inclusion, diversity, and wellbeing.
5. Motivated and resilient: You’ll have a positive, proactive attitude, a passion for helping young people succeed, and a commitment to your own and others’ continuous professional development.
