Job Summary
An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital as a Healthcare Support Worker in the busy ENT Outpatients Department. Based in Outpatients West on our modern, purpose‑built site, this role is more involved than a typical outpatient position. The successful candidate will work across all aspects of the ENT Department, including specialist equipment and procedures such as transnasal oesophagoscopy, ear microsuction, head and neck biopsies, and scoping. You will be part of a friendly team with ample mentoring and support.
Positions & Working Hours
Two positions are available – one full‑time and one part‑time. Successful candidates will work their hours over 7 days a week, Monday to Sunday (details discussed at interview).

Main Duties
* Prepare the clinic environment for the day.
* Involvement in stock maintenance.
* Daily safety checks.
* Assist with procedures undertaken in the department (including ear microsuction, head and neck biopsies and transnasal oesophagoscopy).
* Participate in audits undertaken in the department.
* Decontamination of nasoendoscopes in clinic.
* Provide patient support and advocacy.
Job Responsibilities
* Accurately and promptly carry out the instructions of the Registered Nurse who is professionally accountable for the delivery of care.
* Perform duties as specified in the Trust's Approved Core Task List for Health Care Assistants (NVQ Level 3).
* Report patients who give cause for concern or exhibit changes in clinical condition to registered staff.
* Document all care delivered, countersigned by a Registered Nurse, maintaining confidentiality.
* Respond appropriately to clinical emergencies and be aware of your role in emergency situations.
* Adhere to all Trust policies, procedures, and nursing guidelines.
* Welcome patients to the clinical area and participate in the admission process under supervision.
* Provide high‑standard, individualised personal nursing care in accordance with care standards.
* Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe clinical environment.
Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
* City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Care/Health and Social Care.
Experience (Essential)
* Previous experience in a nursing/healthcare assistant role.
Skills (Essential)
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Basic IT and computer skills.

Contract & Salary
Permanent – Band 3. Salary range: £24,937 to £26,598 per annum (pro rata). Working patterns include full‑time, part‑time, and job share.
