Tax Assistant – Fixed Term Contract (12 months)
Location: Maidenhead, UK
We are looking for an experienced Tax Assistant to join the team in Maidenhead to cover a 12‑month fixed term contract for a maternity leave replacement. The role suits someone working in a small or medium general practice providing personal taxation services.
Key Responsibilities
* Complete Self Assessment Tax Returns for individuals.
* Handle general tax post from clients and HMRC.
* Respond to client queries via email, post or telephone.
* Contact HMRC by telephone for assistance.
* Perform tax administration tasks, including scanning, filing, booking information and updating workflows.
* Follow up with clients for tax return information, signed returns, etc.
* Potential exposure to Capital Gains Tax work.
About You
* At least 2 years tax experience in an accountancy firm.
* Good general tax knowledge.
* Knowledge of CCH advantageous.
* Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office.
* Strong communication and written skills, especially with clients.
* Ability to develop client relationships.
* Hands‑on approach, enthusiastic for continued development.
* Work independently and manage own initiative.
* Organised, able to meet deadlines and self‑reliant.
* Assess priorities and make decisions.
* Valid driving licence and own car.
