A position exists in the Department of Engineering to fabricate and validate in vivo bioelectronic devices for understanding fundamental operating mechanisms of the brain. Candidates should have or be close to obtaining a PhD in electrical engineering and relevant experience on fabrication using the conducting polymer PEDOT:PSS. The project is collaborative, hence evidence of the ability to work with validation partners is critical.
The post holder will be located in West Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.
Responsibilities
* Interfacing with project partners and working with them to define performance metrics and validation criteria.
* Device design. Reviewing relevant literature and designing devices using microfabrication.
* Device validation using agreed upon criteria.
* Planning and organising the use of research resources, laboratories and workshops, as appropriate. Planning and managing own research in collaboration with others.
Qualifications
PhD in electrical engineering (or close to obtaining). Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD. Those with submitted but not yet awarded PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.
Salary and terms
Salary Ranges: Research Assistant: £33,002 - £35,608; Research Associate: £37,694 - £46,049. Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 6 months in the first instance.
