The Engineering department develops leading-edge technologies for the control of complex optical switching fabrics for next-generation agile fibre optic networks.
The job of a Electronics Product lead is to lead the electronic design engineers to deliver PCB Assembly Solutions on time, on budget and compliant against internal and external requirements. The candidate should have experience developing products and experience doing detailed design on complex PCB assemblies. The team is responsible for power electronics, analogue electronics and embedded electronics to create mixed signal PCB assemblies to control Optical switching circuits used in optical network applications.
1. Deliver hardware design from concept through to manufacturing release.
2. Experience leading projects and electronic engineers to deliver complex products
3. Requirements capture, Design Verification Compliance Matrix and Project Management experience.
4. Focused on solving problems and cross discipline collaboration with system engineers, process engineers, software engineers and mechanical engineers.
5. Implement DFM, DFT as needed to ensure a robust supply chain and manufacturing process
6. Ensure adherence to the relevant Quality systems and Engineering processes
7. Design & implementation of hardware design, using schematic capture, for both digital and analogue electronics.
8. Experience designing circuits to meet EMC requirements, RE, CE, RS & CS
9. Validation testing and qualification of resilient hardware and firmware designs.
10. Test tool development for commissioning and manufacture.
11. Support of other design aspects during the product development lifecycle.
12. Work with electronics design manager and project team to create development schedules to eliminate risk early in the design lifecycle. Work with the electronic hardware team to find solutions to challenging project timescales and cost targets.
13. Mentor and support less experienced engineers.

16. DFMEA and Reliability calculations and Reliability testing.
17. Ensure adherence to the relevant Quality systems and Engineering processes
18. Design & implementation of hardware design, using schematic capture, for both digital and analogue electronics.
19. Design & implementation of PCB layouts to deliver high performing analogue circuits which meet requirements over the operating temperature range and the lifetime of the product.
20. Validation testing and qualification of resilient hardware and firmware designs.
21. Test tool development for commissioning and manufacture.
22. Support of other design aspects during the product development lifecycle.
Your profile
23. Degree qualified in Electronic or Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
24. A proven track record on numerous projects in industrial applications, telecommunications, military or aerospace applications. With a proven track record of delivering complex products against demanding timescales.
25. Experience creating requirements and reviewing requirements.
26. Experience creating compliance matrix, identifying risks and creating risk mitigation.
27. Good working knowledge of circuit design using a mixture of both analogue and digital electronics.
28. Experience of complex PCB designs using a mixture of analogue and digital electronics.
29. Evidence of strong practical skills desirable.
30. Experience in MTBF and FMEA.
31. Experience optimising PCB layouts to offer incremental improvements on complex circuits.
32. Experience simulating circuitry and characterising key parasitic capacitance, inductance and resistance in PCB layout / system design.
33. Knowledge of one or more of the following areas desirable - VHDL, high-speed digital design, embedded software development, power electronics, system engineering, telecommunication systems, analogue electronics and design for EMC.
34. Experience of complete Electronics design cycle from concept through to manufacturing release
