Job Purpose
The School Caretaker is responsible for ensuring that the school premises are clean, safe, secure, and well-maintained. The role supports the smooth daily operation of the school by carrying out basic maintenance, cleanliness, safety checks, and assisting staff when required.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain cleanliness of school buildings, classrooms, corridors, restrooms, and outdoor areas
* Carry out basic repairs (carpentry, plumbing, electrical fixtures, painting, etc.)
* Report major repair or maintenance issues to management
* Ensure furniture, doors, windows, and equipment are in good working condition
* Ensure the school premises are safe for students, staff, and visitors
* Open and close school buildings as required
* Monitor entry and exit of visitors and ensure security procedures are followed
* Conduct regular safety checks (fire exits, playground equipment, lighting, water supply)
* Assist during emergencies and follow safety protocols
* Maintain school grounds, gardens, playgrounds, and parking areas
* Manage waste disposal and cleanliness around the campus
* Set up classrooms, halls, and equipment for events, exams, or activities
* Assist teachers and administrative staff when required
* Handle deliveries and move furniture or equipment as needed
* Supervise external contractors working on school premises
Requirements
* Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repairs
* Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions
* Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks
* Good time management and organizational skills
* Honest, reliable, and responsible
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
