Site Engineer – Piling (Short-Term Contract)
Location: Birmingham (Aston Villa Stadium)
Rate: £300 per day ltd
Duration: Mid-June start | 5–6 weeks initially (with return phase Sept–Oct)
Carmichael UK are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to support a piling contractor delivering foundation works for the North Stand extension at Aston Villa Stadium, Birmingham.
This is a short-term but high-profile project, with piling works due to commence mid-June. There is also a follow-on phase scheduled for September–October, offering further continuity for the right individual.
Role Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day engineering activities with a focus on technical delivery and quality assurance
Manage cage call-offs and conduct cage inspections/checks
Review and maintain pile records (including CFA piling and mini-piling)
Coordinate with concrete suppliers to ensure smooth operations
Support site coordination with other trades, including demolition and RC works
Ensure works are delivered in line with project specifications and quality standards
About the Role:
This is a non-supervisory role focused on engineering and quality rather than site supervision (SMSTS supervision is managed separately)
Opportunity to be involved in a fast-paced, live construction environment with multiple trades working concurrently
Potential for continuity between phases, with flexibility to keep the right candidate engaged between programmes (may involve short-term travel)
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Site Engineer on piling projects
Strong knowledge of CFA piling and/or mini-piling techniques
Experience with quality assurance, records management, and technical coordination
Ability to work collaboratively with site teams and subcontractors
