Job description
Location: Remote with adhoc visits to UK sites
Duration: 6 month contract

Role details:
Our client, operating within the Defence and Security sector, seeks a Solution Architect - DC Exit (cloud migration) to join their team on a contract basis. This role focuses on accelerating the assessment, treatment planning, design, and migration of systems and applications to Azure due to impending datacentre closure and end-of-life workloads.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assessing and planning for the migration of systems and applications to the cloud (Azure).
2. Leading and supporting a team in discovery and assessment using a 7Rs approach.
3. Conducting and leading meetings with business application owners and stakeholders.
4. Making quick determinations for treatment, with a focus on re-host and re-architect approaches.
5. Engaging with business stakeholders to reverse engineer application/system architecture.
6. Operating at a significant pace and under pressure to meet deadlines.
7. Collaborating with various teams to ensure seamless migration of data and applications.
8. Providing expertise on cloud architectures and capabilities, specifically Azure.
Job Requirements:
9. Experience in data migrations, especially within a DataCentre Exit & Obsolescence Programmes.
10. Experience as an applications DBA with proficiency in OpenShift.
11. Strong background as a Solution Architect with significant experience in cloud technologies.
12. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
13. Experience in both source and target application architectures.
14. Significant engagement experience with business stakeholders for system architecture reverse engineering.
15. Understanding of secure data handling within the Defence and Security sector.
16. Knowledge of infrastructure, application, and security domains in the context of cloud migration.
