Applications are invited from highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to work within the Council's Client Finances Team within Revenues, Benefits & Customer Services.
The team provides support to people who lack capacity to manage their own financial affairs, as a result of illness, age or disability. This includes acting as DWP Corporate Appointee and Court of Protection appointed Deputy so that a person's finances can be managed appropriately on their behalf.
The work will involve working across multiple IT and banking systems, opening bank accounts, claiming and maintaining benefits, paying bills, dealing with correspondence and ensuring that service users have access to money for day-to-day expenses.
The Client Finances Team work closely with social workers, care providers and external agencies such as the Department for Work and Pensions. A person centered approach to work is adopted to ensure that a person's best interests are always at the heart of every decision.
You will need to be confident, enthusiastic and have good time management skills to work in a busy environment supporting people in vulnerable circumstances.
A good understanding of the guidance and legislation relating to DWP Corporate Appointeeship and Court of Protection Deputyships together with a working knowledge of the benefits system is desirable.
Excellent communication skills are required both written and verbal, as the team deals with a number of queries and other correspondence on a daily basis. Excellent time management and organisational skills. Ability to manage a busy personal caseload, meet deadlines and work as part of a team in supporting colleagues and the service.
