What You’ll Be Doing
As a vital member of our team, you will:
* Ensure Safety: Maintain independent inspection, surveillance, and concurrence of nuclear work on facilities, plant, equipment, and nuclear support services, both on-board and on-site.
* Evaluate Compliance: Assess nuclear and radiological safety and security performance against relevant legislation to ensure business compliance.
* Supervise Inspections: Oversee inspections and assessments to advance submarine build projects through the ‘Hold Point Control’ process.
* Communicate Findings: Share inspection conclusions with stakeholders at all levels, including external regulators and senior management.
* Support Emergency Preparedness: Assist in the independent assessment of emergency arrangements and provide constructive feedback.
* Provide Oversight: Challenge safety and security committees to ensure due process and uphold nuclear safety standards.
* Develop Assurance Plans: Create and maintain Assurance Plans aligned with key business projects and programs.
* Review Safety Documentation: Maintain oversight of Independent Peer Review processes.
Your Skills and Experience
Essential:
* Experience or knowledge in a Nuclear or Highly Regulated Environment, or in a Quality or Safety-related role.
* Ability to evaluate challenges and provide influential solutions within a team.
* Self-motivated, organized, and methodical in your approach to work.
* Excellent communication skills.
Desirable:
* Experience in auditing inspections.
* Knowledge of nuclear site license conditions and security regulations.
* Experience in submarine build, testing, and commissioning.
* A degree or equivalent in a STEM subject.

About the Independent Nuclear Assurance Team
As an Independent Nuclear Assurance Inspector, you will be part of a dedicated team reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager. Our team acts as the internal regulator for the Submarines business, providing an evidence-based view of nuclear and radiological safety and security performance.
With a comprehensive inspection program, you will have the opportunity to influence change at all levels of the business, enhancing the safety of our boat delivery programs. This role offers the unique chance to engage with various areas of the business—one day you might conduct an on-board inspection, and the next, interview a director regarding specific requirements.
