Overview
To oversee the management of the capital budget, reliability and maintenance of the site & the delivery of key site projects – to ensure leadership in this area, BAU engineering & capital cost management, and site technical project activity to manage risk, deliver savings and drive continuous improvement.
As a key member of the factory Operations Team, the Chief Engineer is responsible for setting the engineering strategy and agenda for the site, and providing leadership and direction for the departmental engineering teams, project engineering team, and Technical Services function.
Responsibilities
1. Development, management, & implementation of the site capital strategy.
2. Maintenance performance optimisation to support site variable conversion cost.
3. Financial performance (maintenance costs), including realising savings opportunities, allocation and delivery of budgets on time to forecast.
4. Leadership of utility infrastructure organisation for the Lowestoft factory.
5. Capital engineering responsibility for new product development, capacity extension, cost savings and other strategically important initiatives.
6. Member of site Leadership Team
7. Finding new technology that continually develops the site
8. External benchmarking accountability for engineering and utilities
Qualifications
Essential
9. Engineering Degree or proven experience in engineering
10. Project Management experience
11. Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major project initiatives
12. Similar role held in a similar scale manufacturing facility
13. Excellent communication skills both verbal & written
14. Strong analytical and problem solving skills
15. Organisational skills
16. Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise effectively and work under pressure
