A well-established law firm is seeking a Legal Assistant to join its busy Private Client department. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual with strong administrative skills to support Fee Earners in a professional legal environment.
This role would suit someone with previous legal secretarial experience or solid office-based administrative experience looking to develop their career within a supportive firm.
The Role
You will provide day-to-day administrative and secretarial support to Fee Earners within the Private Client department, ensuring the efficient production and presentation of legal documents and correspondence.
Key responsibilities include :
* Audio and copy typing (digital dictation)
* Drafting and formatting legal documents and correspondence
* Liaising with clients and third parties by telephone and in person
* Handling initial enquiries in line with agreed guidelines
* Diary management and appointment scheduling
* Filing, archiving, and strong room maintenance
* Sorting and preparing outgoing mail and DX
* Photocopying and general clerical duties
* Drafting and preparing bills
* Preparing instructions for the cashier
* Providing reception cover when required
* Supporting colleagues and covering absences when necessary
* Assisting with maintaining and improving office procedures
* Ensuring confidentiality at all times
Essential Skills & Experience
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Confident and professional telephone manner
* Literate, numerate, and highly accurate
* Strong organisational skills
* Understanding of confidentiality requirements
* Experience working in an office environment
* Previous experience as a Legal Secretary or Legal Assistant
* Audio typing experience
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
* Experience using legal accounts software
