Overview

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, conscientious and dedicated Electrician to join an Estates Maintenance Team responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment at properties owned and maintained by Cheshire & Wirral Partnership NHS Trust. The role will require the post holder to undertake the role of Competent Person (CP) as defined within Health Technical Memorandum 06-02.

As part of the role, the post holder will be required to be flexible and operate as part of a diverse maintenance team whilst having a wide ranging knowledge of electrical systems (including LV distribution, technical drawings, problem solving, testing and inspection etc).

The role will also require the post holder to participate in the on-call rota. All applicants must have access to transport for work purposes as travel is essential around the various properties the Trust is responsible for. They must also be able to use their own initiative in order to problem solve issues that may be presented in a safe manner in order for areas to continually operate and provide assurance to the stakeholders.


Responsibilities

Carry out installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment across Trust properties; operate as Competent Person in line with HTM 06-02; work as part of a diverse Estates Maintenance Team to sustain safe and compliant electrical systems.


Qualifications and Experience

Successful applicants must be trained to City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Craft Certificate or equivalent qualification (e.g. NVQ 3, BTEC National Certificate/Diploma or ONC/OND) and will have completed a recognised Electrical apprenticeship with a high level of competence. Basic requirements include a wide knowledge of electrical systems and related skills.


Salary, On-Call and Benefits

The salary for this role is at Agenda for Change band 4, with RRP an additional payment, paid at £6040.95 per annum. On call is paid at £21.92 per occasion with a minimum of 1.5 hours pay per call out. All other on-call time is paid at time and a half, including travel time. There is enhanced bank holiday pay for on call and time back in lieu.

New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above. The trust offers up to three weeks’ induction, with the Prepare to Care programme for all new starters to help you hit the ground running with CWP.
