SCOPE OF ROLE

As a SHEQ Business Partner, you'll act as the divisional lead for all matters relating to our mission of "Pursuing a Harm Free Future."

You'll provide expert SHEQ guidance to a designated division, working closely with Divisional Leadership and the Head of SHEQ to deliver improvement plans aligned to the wider business strategy.

This is a senior professional role combining operational support, assurance, investigation leadership, coaching, and systems improvement.

Occasional out-of-hours support (weekend/night) may be required.

HOW YOU`LL SUCCEED

Look Out for Others – Operational Partnership

* Act as primary SHEQ contact for divisional leadership

* Use SHEQ data, KPIs, and dashboards to drive performance conversations

* Deliver SHEQ awareness training, toolbox talks, and workshops

* Conduct audits, inspections, and competency checks (e.g. CAT & Genny, Safe Digging, Temporary Works)

* Support and review CPPs, QMPs, Risk Registers, Method Statements, COSHH, and Emergency Plans

* Promote reporting of Close Calls, Acts & Conditions

* Support wellbeing campaigns and engagement initiatives

* Ensure RIDDOR compliance and client reporting requirements

Fix the System – Continuous Improvement

* Lead thorough investigations into incidents, damages, and quality issues

* Apply Human Factors and Just Culture principles to identify root causes

* Maintain and evolve the Integrated Management System

* Support ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 compliance and certification

* Lead divisional improvement projects using Lean / 5S principles

* Act as procedure/risk "Owner" for designated SHEQ areas

* Deputise for SHEQ Managers where required

WHAT IT TAKES

Essential Experience

* Experience in a SHEQ Manager / Senior SHEQ role within utilities or engineering

* Strong knowledge of NRSWA and HSG47

* Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001

* Confident communicator across all organisational levels

* Strong analytical and problem-solving ability

* Comfortable working independently and influencing stakeholders

Qualifications

* NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6/7)

* IOSH Chartered Membership

* 3+ years post-NEBOSH Certificate experience

* ISO Lead Auditor qualification

* EUSR or CSCS Card

* Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable:

Knowledge of Behaviour-Based Safety / Human Factors
