The Role:
The successful candidate will work accurately and conscientiously, have excellent customer service skills, enjoy adapting to changing priorities, remain calm under pressure and work effectively in a busy team.
They will also demonstrate a good attention to detail and a consistent desire to see patients well cared for.
They will provide support to the Medicines Management Team Manager and the practice.
To be flexible and to provide holiday/sickness cover if and when necessary
Main duties of the job
Duties to include:
The issuing of prescriptions through pre-set repeat templates, as well as acute items following clinician instructions, all in accordance with Practice policy and procedure
Dealing with prescription queries from patients, pharmacies and care homes (written and on the phone), when appropriate
Dealing with tasks & workflow that are specific to the Prescribing team
Working alongside Doctors and other Healthcare professionals in order to maintain the smooth running of the department
Keeping up to date with training

The Practice:
Fitzalan Medical Group is an NHS general medical services (GMS) practice, with a registered patient list of around 16,000 patients. It has a supporting staff of Salaried Doctors, Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Paramedic Practitioners, Pharmacists, Clerical Staff and Managers. In all there are around 70 members of staff.
The Medicines Management Team is an integral part of the practice, supporting clinical staff with queries and issuing prescriptions with autonomy.

1 1.The purpose of the Medicines Management Administrator is to ensure that prescription requests are managed in an efficient and accurate manner and patients have a point of contact for medication related queries.
2. The Medicines Management Administrator will adhere at all times to the practices agreed
protocols and procedures.
3. Provide an effective service as part of the Medicines Management Team to ensure
prescription requests are actioned within the necessary timeframe.
4. Co ordinating and preparing repeat prescriptions for our patients in response to written
requests, emailed requests or online requests.
5. Liaising with patients, care homes and pharmacies about medication related queries.
6. Liaise with community pharmacy teams about supply disruptions and alert clinicians of any
issues and suitable alternatives as advised by the community pharmacy.
7. Make accurate records in a patients notes of any communication. Contribute to audits.
Improve the quality and safety of prescribing.
Assist in delivery of incentives to protect and save NHS resources.
Closely monitor patients who are on high risk drugs to ensure the necessary monitoring takes
place in a timely fashion.
Assist in the training of other members of the team, as necessary.
Report on near misses and significant events.
Attend monthly Medicines Management Team meetings.
