About the role
The Department of Computing & Informatics is seeking to appoint three talented and enthusiastic Research Assistants to join the “Smart Accessible Carbon Monoxide Alarm” project, under the direction of Prof. Marios Angelopoulos. The positions are suitable for candidates with backgrounds in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or related sciences, with knowledge in IoT technologies, embedded operating systems, microelectronics, and mobile applications.
The successful candidates will hold MSc degrees in relevant areas and will develop a working prototype of the accessibility module for carbon monoxide alarms with integrated IoT features and smartphone integration, based on findings from a prior feasibility study. Their role involves planning, designing, and developing a fully operational prototype of the smart accessible CO alarm.

Two posts focusing on IoT development are available on a part-time (18.5 hours/week, 0.5 FTE) fixed-term basis for 10 months from May 2025.
One post focusing on mobile application development and IoT integration is available on a full-time fixed-term basis for 10 months from May 2025.
