Role Overview
Average weekly hours (not guaranteed): 10–15. Hourly rate starting at £50.42 for Blended Learning and £86.44 for Distance Learning. You will also receive rolled‑up holiday pay of 12.07% per hour. This is a worker contract position; only applicants based in the UK are eligible, and lesson allocation will be determined by the school's needs.
School: Criminology, Criminal Justice & Law. Department: Department of Law. Working model: On‑site at Holborn campus & distance learning (home‑based with occasional travel).
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching and Learning (BL): Deliver classroom‑based sessions, engage students via online platforms, provide feedback, and enhance the student learning experience.
- Teaching and Learning (DL): Lead interactive online sessions via Zoom, engage students through discussion forums, and provide prompt support and feedback.
- Marking & Assessment: Participate in standardisation exercises, undertake formative and summative marking, and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Supervision: Provide high‑quality supervision and guidance for student projects and dissertations.
- Authoring Content: Develop or revise engaging lecture and learning content, ensuring copyright compliance.
- Other Duties: Participate in meetings, peer reviews, and staff development activities to maintain teaching quality.
Essential Qualifications
- A degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience teaching and assessing students within the UK higher education sector.
- Experience delivering student‑centred teaching and, for DL roles, experience of teaching through distance learning.
- Up‑to‑date industry experience.
- Fellowship of Advance HE (or willingness to work towards it with Arden’s support).
Desirable Qualifications
- A teaching qualification.
- For teaching at postgraduate level, a postgraduate qualification or equivalent.
