Health Care Assistant -Integrated Surgical and Gynaecological Unit

Health Care Assistant - Band 2 Integrated Surgical and Gynaecological Unit (ISGU) Various hours Permanent

We are looking for highly motivated and committed Health Care Assistants to join our wards and teams.

You will need to be passionate and enthusiastic about patient care; putting patients at the heart of everything you do. You should be flexible and adaptable. For this role you will need to communicate effectively with other staff and patients at all levels.

You will be required to liaise with a wide range of healthcare professionals as well as the general public and patients. As such you will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Assist with daily hygiene needs of patients and unit requirements.Participate, under direction with patient's meals/beverages and special diets and in disturbing patient's meals and beverages.Document any observations made or care delivered in the patients notes in a legible, accurate and appropriate manner, with due consideration for confidentiality issues and legal implications.


Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for carrying out assigned tasks involving direct patient care, in support of and supervised by a registered Nurse, Midwife or Doctor maintaining a high standard of quality patient care and staff morale through personal example, good conduct and appearance.

Skills & Abilities

* Good Communication skills (written and verbal)
* Able to work as a team
* Committed to delivering high standards of care
* Able to meet the flexible needs of the role and duty roster


Education & Qualifications

* Good general education/ Literacy & Numeracy or willing to work towards obtaining
* Willing to undertake the National Care Certificate training programme
* Holds National Care Certificate
* Working towards or prepared to work towards obtaining an Apprenticeship in Clinical Healthcare.


Knowledge

* Awareness and understanding of importance of confidentiality
* Accuracy and attention to detail
* Demonstrate interest in healthcare services
* Knowledge of Infection Control & Safeguarding processes


Experience

* Experience of caring for patients
* Experience working in a healthcare setting
