Overview
Path Links is a networked NHS Pathology service offering a wide range of diagnostic investigations on tissue, blood, and fluid samples. All Path Links laboratories are accredited to United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) ISO 15189 standards.
A Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) is an integral part of a pathology laboratory team. An MLA supports Biomedical Scientists in delivering a first class diagnostic service to medical professionals. The MLA role is challenging and rewarding, focused on ensuring patients receive the best level of care in the analysis of their samples and the results produced.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of a Microbiology team, providing services to Clinicians and General Practitioners and assisting qualified laboratory staff in delivering an effective service. This may include support duties in other laboratory areas.
* Undertake delegated work under the direct and indirect supervision of a State Registered Biomedical Scientist (BMS) using Standard Operating Procedures.
* Complete extensive in-house training using training modules and competency assessments to achieve knowledge equivalent to NVQ level II qualification.
* Carry out hands-on work with a variety of specimen types and pieces of equipment to deliver analytical results.
* Perform general laboratory duties, such as cleaning, stock management, and maintenance of equipment.
* Participate in a weekday late shift and weekend rota, including public holidays. Flexibility in availability is required, with shifts allocated in advance for planning.

The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, serving over one million patients each year with a budget of over £1.3 billion. It comprises Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH). The Partnership employs nearly 20,000 staff across multiple sites and works with Hull York Medical School to lead and contribute to biomedical research and various medical specialties.
