Lecturer – Computing

Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £31,930 and £36,878 per annum (DOE). 45 days annual leave plus bank holidays, teacher’s pension, retail and leisure discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours / Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the Role

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Computing to join our Computing department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

* Teaching & Learning Delivery – Prepare, deliver, and assess engaging lessons across a range of courses, tailored to individual student needs and aligned with awarding body standards.
* Student Support & Progression – Guide and support students to achieve their potential, monitor progress, manage behaviour, and ensure a high-quality learning experience.
* Curriculum & Quality Assurance – Develop schemes of work and learning materials, contribute to course reviews, and implement quality processes including student feedback and moderation.
* Administration & Collaboration – Complete course-related admin tasks accurately and on time, participate in team meetings, and support promotional activities such as open days and careers events.
* Statutory Responsibilities – Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, health & safety, and engage in ongoing training and development in line with TBCG policies and procedures.


About You

* Qualifications & Subject Expertise – Degree in Computing or related field (or equivalent experience), GCSEs in English and Maths, and willingness to work towards a teaching qualification.
* Teaching & Learning Experience – Ability to teach Computing subjects, recent teaching experience in UK education, and commitment to delivering high-quality learning experiences for diverse student groups.
* Communication & Professional Conduct – Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to build supportive environments, uphold professional standards, and promote the college’s reputation.
* Teamwork & Organisational Skills – Proven ability to work collaboratively, meet deadlines, contribute to team goals, and demonstrate excellent planning and administrative capabilities.
* Safeguarding & Continuous Development – Commitment to safeguarding, maintaining professional boundaries, updating skills and knowledge, and awareness of health and safety requirements.
