Overview
We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic General Manager for our Trauma and Orthopaedic service who is driven by the desire to do best by our patients. Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is embedding a new operating model with clinically led, multidisciplinary leadership teams to inform decisions by clinical expertise while preserving operational expertise to run safe, successful services. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the future of patient services and contribute to a Trust-wide movement to embed clinical leadership at every level.
Responsibilities
The General Manager is responsible to the Clinical Director for the delivery of all patient services within the Orthopedic Managed Clinical Service. The role, in partnership with the Lead Nurse and Clinical Lead and with direction from the Clinical Director and support from Clinical Group Directors, involves ensuring that operational performance targets (including waiting lists and finance), the quality of services to patients, and continuous improvement towards best practice standards within available income are achieved. You will play a central role in decision-making, contribute to the Trust’s operational excellence and strategic ambitions, and work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical teams to drive improvements in patient experience, staff wellbeing, and service efficiency across the Trust.
You will be well supported with a bespoke personal development plan and access to a range of development activities. This role sits within the triumvirate alongside the Lead Nurse and Clinical Lead, reporting to the Clinical Director and receiving guidance from Clinical Group Directors to achieve MFT/Clinical Group objectives and to positively contribute to health services across the Group and local health and social care economy.
