Overview
Project Engineer - Rail — 6 month contract, Sheffield. Up to £600 Outside IR35. Rail experience needed. RT Consulting are an established Gold ERS armed forces covenant SME and a management consultancy with over 15 years of experience in driving innovation and transformation in Defence, Local & Central Government, Policing and Transport. We are expanding our society of consultants to fulfil current and future demands from our defence portfolio, including one of the largest Defence frameworks in the UK which we have proudly supported for over 5 years.
Responsibilities
* Engineering Delivery: Undertake technical tasks across light rail disciplines including traction power, depot upgrades, signalling, communications, and asset management.
* Engineering Delivery: Lead scheme development through investigation, site inspections, data analysis, design, and construction supervision.
* Engineering Delivery: Apply independent engineering judgement to deliver innovative solutions.
* Project Management: Deliver projects within the £100m renewal programme to agreed standards of time, cost, quality, and safety.
* Project Management: Manage multi-disciplinary teams including internal staff, contractors, transport operators, and external advisors.
* Project Management: Monitor progress, resolve issues, and make timely decisions to maintain budget and schedule.
* Project Management: Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, including CDM Regulations.
* Project Controls & Reporting: Produce and maintain project documentation including schedules, risk registers, cost reports, change logs, and monthly updates.
* Project Controls & Reporting: Lead financial management of projects including forecasting, fee control, construction costs, and contingency planning.
* Project Controls & Reporting: Support final account preparation and accurate reporting throughout all project stages.
