Your Role at Cabot
The UK finance team is primarily responsible for the financial reporting (US GAAP and local/statutory) of Cabot Carbon Ltd (Tolling manufacturer), Cabot Performance Material UK (Sales & Marketing), and six other UK holding companies (Cabot GB Ltd, Cabot UK Ltd, Cabot Plastics Ltd, Cabot Activated Carbon UK Ltd, Cabot Activated Carbon Holding UK Ltd, and Cabot UK Holding III).
The Senior Accountant will support the UK Finance Manager with daily duties, including but not limited to:
* Ensuring compliance of all finance, tax, and accounting records with UK and US GAAP;
* Statutory accounting;
* Tax returns for group companies;
* VAT accounting;
* Budgeting and forecasting;
* Cost-saving initiatives;
* Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”), internal controls, and audits.
Additionally, the Senior Accountant will assist the UK Finance Manager in supporting business unit leaders and liaising with external bodies (such as HMRC, The Office of National Statistics) or consultants (auditors, tax advisors) as needed.
How You Will Make an Impact
* Managing daily accounting and financial activities for Cabot Performance Material UK and the holding companies, ensuring correct recording and compliance with Cabot’s standards and US GAAP;
* Supporting the UK Finance Manager with accounting and financial analysis for Cabot Carbon Ltd;
* Leading processes such as:
o UK statutory accounts preparation;
o Group CT reporting, PAYE, payroll reporting, VAT submissions;
* Maintaining an effective control environment, including assisting with statutory and internal audits, reviewing the SOX matrix, and performing balance sheet reconciliations;
* Producing management reviews and analytical assessments of revenue and expenses;
* Leading the annual budget planning and forecasting cycles for the UK entities;
* Deputising for the UK Finance Manager as needed.

Education and Experience:
* University degree in Accounting/Finance; professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW) preferred;
* Proficient in UK GAAP; knowledge of US GAAP and SOX is a plus;
* Knowledge of UK Tax group accounting is advantageous;
* Over 5 years of experience in financial and tax accounting, preferably in an international manufacturing environment;
* Experience in statutory account preparation within a UK manufacturing group is desirable.
