Purchase Ledger Clerk Location: Longtown Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm Pay rate: up to £30,000 p/a Contract: Permanent We’re working with a well-established, family-run business based in Longtown who are looking to add a Purchase Ledger Clerk to their finance team. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, building relationships, and keeping things organised in a busy environment. The role is Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, providing a consistent and structured working pattern. ​​​​​​​ Key Responsibilities • Processing high volumes of supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and correct coding • Matching invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes • Resolving invoice discrepancies and supplier queries in a timely manner • Preparing and processing supplier payment runs • Reconciling supplier statements and investigating any differences • Maintaining up-to-date and accurate purchase ledger records • Setting up new supplier accounts and maintaining existing details • Assisting with month-end processes, including accruals and reporting • Liaising with internal departments to ensure purchase orders and invoices align • Supporting audits by providing relevant documentation when required ​​​​​​​About You • Previous experience in a purchase ledger or accounts payable role • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks • Confident communicator, both written and verbal • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team • A proactive approach to problem-solving Desirable Skills • Experience using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or similar • Understanding of basic accounting principles • AAT qualification or working towards it If you’re looking to join a business where your contribution is valued and you can build on your finance experience within a close-knit, family-run environment, we’d love to hear from you.
