Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist in the Forensic Intellectual and Neurodevelopmental Disorders (FIND) Service. The service comprises three teams: Specialist Community Forensic Team (SCFT), Forensic Personality Disorder Service (FPDS), and FIND. The service covers Devon (including Plymouth), Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly, offering a care pathway for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, and/or Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). The role involves clinical leadership, care pathway management, and working within a tiered system of care, with an anticipated small caseload of Tier 4 patients. The post also involves contributing to regional strategic developments and participating in the secure service on-call rota.
Main Duties
* Provide clinical leadership for the FIND team.
* Act as Responsible Clinician for Devon Tier 4 caseload.
* Facilitate care pathway management, including specialist advice and liaison.
* Participate in weekly team and service meetings.
* Contribute to triaging, access assessments, and pathway advice.
* Engage in care planning, treatment formulation, and evidence-based practice.
* Collaborate with other services and agencies.
* Implement Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act procedures.
* Conduct forensic risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.

Qualifications & Experience
Full GMC registration, Approved Clinician status, eligibility for the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT, and section 12 approval under the Mental Health Act are essential. Desirable qualifications include MRCPsych and additional professional qualifications. Experience in forensic or learning disability psychiatry, community practice, audit, and clinical governance is required. Leadership, teaching, and management experience are advantageous.
