Overview
The Discharge Team is based on both sites, The Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Hayward Heath. RSCH Discharge Lounge is looking for 1 full time 37.5 hours and 1 part time 22.5 hours Band 5 Registered Nurses to join our friendly team. The operational hours will be from 0800 - 20:00 hours currently Monday to Friday.
The Discharge Lounge helps to promote patient flow throughout the hospital site and supports our emergency and elective demand. The Discharge Lounge is available for patients to wait for transport or medications to be discharged with, therefore creating available acute beds for patients being admitted to hospital.
We are looking for proactive, creative Registered Nurses, who are good communicators, can work collaboratively with the wards, promoting early use of the Discharge Lounge in the day to provide capacity for the demand on our services, and creating a pleasant and positive experience for the patients leaving our care. The successful candidate can expect to work within a supportive team and will receive support with training and development.
Collection and care of patients whilst in the DCL, discharging patients safely, booking transport, communicating with ongoing community providers and NOK where required.

Responsibilities
* Provide discharge lounge support, patient flow management, and bed availability through timely discharge planning.
* Promote early use of the Discharge Lounge to support ward capacity and patient experience.
* Collect and care for patients in the Discharge Lounge, discharge patients safely, book transport, and communicate with ongoing community providers and next of kin as required.
Qualifications
* Band 5 Registered Nurse (RN)
* Proactive, creative, and good communicators
* Ability to work collaboratively with wards and support teams
* Willingness to participate in training and development
