Come and work with our welcoming Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department at York Hospital. Opportunities have arisen for a Consultant Hepatologist to join our teams at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust supports a portfolio career with flexible job plans to accommodate varied skill sets and working patterns. There is no mandatory commitment to the General Medicine on-call service.
Responsibilities
* Hepatology outpatient clinics
* Engagement with the hepatology MDT and elective endoscopy
* On-call commitment including inpatient management of general Gastroenterology patients and out-of-hours GI bleed cover
About the service
The Trust is proud of its hepatology service and has recently been awarded Level 2 IQILS accreditation in recognition of the high-quality liver service provided. We run a full MDT service supported by clinical nurse specialists and medical colleagues, with strong links to the Leeds Liver Transplantation Service. Our 7-room endoscopy unit in York opened in September 2019 and offers opportunities to develop advanced and subspecialist endoscopic modalities, such as EUS. It includes a dedicated ERCP room and the infrastructure to develop a suite of training courses. There are opportunities for clinical research and teaching of undergraduate students as part of the Hull and York Medical School.

Procurement of the role
Job plans are open to discussion and negotiation. Candidates must have a higher medical qualification (MRCP or equivalent) and be on the GMC Specialist Register for G(I)M and Gastroenterology or be within twelve months of obtaining the CCT at the time of interview. Clinical skills should be of a high standard in Hepatology. If desired, there is a voluntary limited option to cover General Internal Medicine. Familiarity with service organisation and development is advantageous.
