Job Introduction

The role
As Head of Law for Contracts and Commercial, you will be the Council’s legal specialist advisor on commercial and contract work, personally advising the Cabinet, members and the Council’s senior management team. You will lead, motivate and manage a high‑performing team of senior lawyers, drive continuous improvement across the Council and shape future ways of working.
Key responsibilities include:
Deliver strategic legal advice on complex commercial and contractual matters
Champion innovation and collaboration across the organisation and key external stakeholders
Partner with the Monitoring Officer to embed good governance and potentially act as Deputy Monitoring Officer
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the legal team and across the service
In this role you will influence at the highest levels of the organisation and will work closely with external partners to deliver challenging outcomes.
