Locum Consultant Obstetrician and Gynae‑Oncologist

The successful candidate will participate in a 1 in 10 on-call rota for Labour ward and Gynecology on call. On call has to be swapped well in advance if there is a need to take Annual or Study leave. Weekends will include Direct Clinical Care sessions with twice daily ward rounds in line with the Ockendon recommendations. The other weeks will have the rest of the clinical sessions and supporting activities when it is expected that annual leave will be taken.
The successful candidate must have extensive experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The candidate must demonstrate an ability to work as part of the broad consultant team, with the expectation that further changes will occur in all job plans as the department develops. They will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide continuity of care for patients in this Trust.
Supporting professional activities (SPAs) are expected to be worked on site unless agreed otherwise with the Clinical Director and specified in the job plan. SPAs include administration audit, research, teaching and self‑organised Continuing Medical Education (CME).

Main duties of the job
Join the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant team to deliver a first‑class service at SWFT and contribute to the development of the services.
Support the department in meeting the challenging key performance indicators.
Deliver agreed standards of care and work to achieve 60‑hour consultant presence on delivery suite.
Support delivery of activity targets in partnership with Clinical Commissioning Groups and support service developments, where possible.
Allow flexibility and provide cover for consultant colleagues as appropriate and in accordance with Divisional arrangements and Trust Policy.
Provide professional supervision, direction and training for junior medical staff.
Take an active role in audit, research, bedside and teaching sessions.
Participate in the on‑call and night shift rota for Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
Participate in plans to lead to cost efficiencies across the Department.
Contribute to the Clinical Governance activities of the Trust to maintain the quality standards of clinical services.
Ensure Continuing Professional Development targets are achieved.
Take part in the revalidation and annual appraisal processes.
Ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of patients to be able to contact you when necessary.

Job responsibilities
Applicants should possess the MRCOG or equivalent and Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent and be on the GMC Specialist Register or be eligible for entry within six months of the Advisory Appointments Committee.
Applicants will need to be registered with the Continued Professional Development (CPD) program run by the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (RCOG) and to participate in GMC revalidation, the Trusts annual consultant appraisal, general and directorate specific audit and clinical governance programs.
Person Specification
* Full GMC Registration
* Relevant CCT or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of AAC)
* ATSMs in advanced labour ward practice or equivalent and any other special interest
* Entry onto the GMC Specialist register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
