Position Description
The Registrar’s Office student workers are responsible for assisting students, faculty and other constituents to navigate the academic procedures and policies set forth by the office and the University. In addition, the student workers will assist Office staff with day-to-day office functions.
Qualifications and Experience
* ESSENTIAL: Personable, friendly and professional attitude and appearance; detail-oriented and organized; working knowledge of basic computer skills (e.g. MS Word and Excel) and willingness to learn other programs; ability to alphabetize, file and record information accurately; answer phones and appropriately handle visitors with questions; maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with University policy and legal requirements (e.g. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act).
* PREFERRED: Previous experience working in a professional office environment.
Dress Code
Dress and shoes should be clean, neat and appropriate for a professional office setting.
Working Conditions
Preferred ability to lift approximately 25 pounds. Candidates willing to work full-time hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) over the summer months are preferred.
Responsibilities
* Answer phones and assist visitors to the office; address inquiries related to academic policies and procedures as appropriate.
* Distribute and file forms and correspondence.
* Shred documents according to record retention schedules.
* Scan and index documents (e.g., grade rosters, changes of grades, transcripts).
* Assist office staff with special projects, general workflow and data maintenance.
* Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
* Query and update student education records in Banner; manage demographic information, registration and academic history.
* Maintain knowledge of Banner systems to help field questions from students, faculty and parents.
Secondary Duties
* Assist with special events (e.g., Commencement and new student registration).
* Other duties as assigned.
