The Outcome Measurement Innovation Team at ITV drives innovative data products to measure the impact of TV advertising. They own an innovation pipeline that transforms dozens of early-stage pilots into high-impact solutions at scale across ITV's Commercial division. These products often involve sophisticated data sharing and modelling, requiring partnership between advertisers, agencies, and data partners, each with their own legal complexities. As a result, MIT handles a diverse array of legal challenges, from navigating competition, regulation, and privacy law in early-stage, high-risk projects, to fast-tracking contracts in the final stages as products ramp up for live campaigns.
The role…
Our lively, hardworking and growing Measurement Innovation team are currently seeking an experienced Senior Legal Advisor to join on a 12 month fixed term contract basis. Reporting to the Head of Legal for Advanced Advertising, you'll play a crucial part in implementing a wide range of legal matters for MIT, balancing speed and thoroughness while anticipating risks and providing creative legal solutions.
Some of your key Day-to-Day Responsibilities will include:
* Collaborate with the Head of Legal for Advanced Advertising to lead all legal matters for MIT, from routine tasks to complex, multi-party agreements.
* Coordinate with ITV’s legal teams across Privacy, Platforms, and Regulatory to distill and balance contending interests, ensuring a cohesive legal perspective.
* Advise MIT team members on technical approaches that align with legal principles and draft tailored contracts, standard terms and conditions and other legal documents for various use cases (e.g., codes of conduct for analysts, contracts for data scientists).
* Liaise with and handle both technical and commercial collaborators.
* Represent ITV’s legal viewpoint in industry discussions and communicate effectively with the wider business.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)...
* UK (or equivalent Commonwealth or overseas) qualified solicitor holding a current practising certificate to practice law in England and Wales.
* The role would suit a UK qualified solicitor of at least 5 years PQE, although solicitors with fewer years PQE with significant experience will be considered
* Experience in advising on data protection and privacy matters (including both GDPR and PECR).
* Some understanding of advertising/marketing and ad-tech.
* Some understanding of the operation of the internet and modern communication networks
* Experience in contracting with suppliers of services including technology services and data supply

* A commercially-minded lawyer with experience handling contending priorities in a lively, fast paced environment.
* Strong communicator and teammate, able to establish relationships and garner respect at all levels across various business areas.
* Shown ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, compliance, finance, sales, and regulatory affairs.
* Expertise in privacy and data handling, including personal and pseudonymised data.
* Shown understanding of risk management, with the ability to swiftly address and mitigate risks in sophisticated, technical situations.
* Familiarity with TV advertising measurement frameworks (e.g., BARB), data owners/brokers, and traditional broadcast networks.
* Knowledge of the advertising landscape, consumer-facing businesses, and commercial drivers within ITV and its collaborators.
