The Opportunity The Junior Project Manager role is a key delivery role, reporting into a Head of Delivery within the Defence business unit (BU). Primary Job Purpose As a Junior Project Manager you will be responsible to support Project Managers and Project teams to effectively establish, plan, manage, deliver and control change programmes and projects in line with the project management grading framework. The role requires strong organisation and time management skills with the ability to make the right decisions under pressure. You will achieve success by using modern, effective Project Management techniques, taking a leading role in your own professional and personal development. Enabling the business to: Consistently execute contracts fully to schedule, cost and quality Professionally interface-to and manage external Customers, Subcontractors and Partners, and internal Business Functions (balancing the needs of the business and the needs of stakeholders). Create trusted and enduring relationships, building value for both the customer and Roke Plan for and successfully mobilise contracts Identify, prioritise and mitigate/manage risks & issues associated with bidding & delivery Bid with confidence; knowing schedule, cost & quality factors are fully considered Report/forecast accurately against key performance measures/indicators (KPIs) Continually improve delivery capability in parallel to bids & contracts Key ResponsibilitiesKey responsibilities include: Develop project plans, timelines, and resource allocation schedules Take full ownership of assigned activities whilst exercising a self managed approach Ensure information is delivered in a clear, concise and timely manner Be able to identify and appropriately apply the most relevant and effective process to able to successfully deliver their projects or address issues/risks Be able to monitor and self correct tasks to mee cost, time and quality objectives Track project progress against established milestones and identify potential risks or delays Support resource planning and scheduling to ensure optimal team utilization Maintain project documentation including meeting notes, action items, and project status reports Manage project documentation repositories and maintain version control systems Assist in implementing project management best practices and process improvements Support quality assurance activities and ensure deliverables meet established standards Schedule and facilitate project meetings, including the preparation of agendas and follow-up action items Assist in monitoring project expenditures to ensure alignment with the allocated budget Identify and document project risks and opportunities for review and action by senior leadership Assist with project procurement by helping to manage resources and vendor relationships Building and actively managing project teams Identifying, prioritising and actively managing risks & issues associated with bids & live contracts; includes elements of collaboration around identifying risks and escalating Ensure all project artefacts meet the standards of the Roke’s QMS – includes plans, estimates, specifications, architecture & design documents, software, test plans & results, manufacturing data, etc Person SpecificationEducation and Qualifications Appropriate Project Management qualifications (e.g. APM, PMI, Prince2) Relevant degree and/or experience required Knowledge, Skills & Experience Project Managers will be APM PMQ qualified or equivalent or working towards a qualification Experience in either products and product development or research and consultancy Experience in delivering Product Why You Should Join Us We have a competitive salary and access to a number of additional flexible benefits, which will cover Health and Wellbeing, Savings and Protection & Life, Leisure and Entertainment.
