Role Overview
This is a key Business Analyst position within a Network Security product team in a large-scale financial services environment. The role focuses on bridging business needs, risk management, regulatory compliance, and technology delivery. You will work in a product-aligned Agile setup, collaborating closely with Technical Product Owners (TPOs), Component Product Owners (CPOs), engineering teams, security operations, risk, compliance, and service management stakeholders.
The successful candidate will translate complex security, threat, and control requirements into actionable, traceable change, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable risk reduction, improved observability, secure access, and alignment with governance/audit standards.
Key Responsibilities
Product & Stakeholder Collaboration
Act as a core member of the product triad, partnering daily with TPOs, CPOs, and engineering to shape backlog priorities and delivery outcomes.
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across technology, security operations, risk, compliance, and service management.
Support TPOs in refining product vision and roadmap through evidence-based analysis, user insights, and impact assessments.
Requirements Elicitation, Analysis & Traceability
Elicit, analyse, and document functional/non-functional requirements, user journeys, and security controls (e.g., Zero Trust, secure access, policy enforcement, observability).
Maintain full end-to-end traceability from business objectives/risk statements to backlog items, controls, and delivered outcomes.
Map requirements to relevant frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, ISO 27001) to support governance, audit, and assurance.
Backlog Management & Delivery Support
Author high-quality user stories and acceptance criteria that are clear, testable, and outcome-focused.
Collaborate on prioritisation based on risk, business value, and threat landscape.
Participate in sprint planning, refinement, reviews, and dependency management across components.
Validation, Evidence & Control Assurance
Support UAT, operational acceptance testing, and control validation to confirm solutions meet requirements and security goals.
Produce/maintain evidence packs, documentation, and artefacts for risk sign-off, audit, and regulatory review.
Demonstrate measurable outcomes (e.g., risk reduction, control effectiveness, service improvements).
Service & Operational Alignment
Analyse/document as-is and to-be processes in incident, problem, change, vulnerability, and access management.
Ensure product changes align with ITIL-based service management while supporting Agile/DevSecOps delivery.
Work with engineering/operations to make changes supportable, observable, and operationally viable.
Benefits Realisation & Reporting
Define/track KPIs and benefits (e.g., risk reduction, SLA improvements, control coverage, user impact).
Provide dashboards/insights for product decision-making and executive reporting.
Drive continuous improvement using data and feedback to refine backlog and prioritisation.
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven Business Analyst experience in financial services, network security, cyber security, or infrastructure domains.
Strong knowledge of product-centric Agile delivery, working alongside Product Owners and engineering teams.
Ability to translate security, risk, and regulatory needs into implementable backlog items.
Conceptual familiarity with Zero Trust, network security services, and control frameworks (no deep engineering required).
Excellent stakeholder facilitation, analytical, and documentation skills.
Working knowledge of ITIL processes and service management tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
Preferred Qualifications / Desirable
BCS Business Analysis certification (or equivalent).
ITIL 4 Foundation (or higher).
Exposure to security/network technologies (e.g., firewalls, ZTNA, SIEM).
Experience in regulated environments with strong governance/audit focus.
Success Measures
Clear traceability from requirements to controls/outcomes.
High backlog readiness and quality (e.g., first-time acceptance).
Demonstrable benefits realisation and risk reduction.
Effective, collaborative relationships with TPOs, CPOs, and engineering teams.
This role suits an experienced BA who thrives in complex, regulated product environments, excels at stakeholder alignment, and can deliver traceable, value-driven change in network security and connectivity initiatives.
