Job Vacancy Details

DATE POSTED: March 5, 2026

POSITION: GRADUATE GEOTECHNICAL/ GEOENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER

LOCATION: LONDON / NORWICH / CAMBRIDGE

SALARY: Competitive starting salary, plus benefits

START DATE: As soon as a suitable candidate has been found

We don’t always have a graduate vacancy advertised, but we are often looking for talented recent university graduates to join the team. If you are looking to start your career in ground investigation, please get in contact.

We frequently have opportunities for graduates to join the geotechnical engineering division of Harrison Group. Positions can be based in the company’s Enfield, Cambridge, and Norwich offices.

As a graduate geotechnical/geoenvironmental engineer you will work on a range of ground investigation projects and a wide variety of projects in different sectors, across East Anglia, the Midlands, South of England and further afield. The role will involve a combination of site and office‑based work, predominantly around the specification, operation and interpretation of geotechnical and geoenvironmental investigation. Graduate engineers will be trained to undertake field tasks such as machine trial pit excavations, supervising borehole drilling, undertaking infiltration testing, ground gas monitoring, groundwater sampling and researching geological, hydrogeological, historical, topographical and environmental site information. You will also learn how geotechnical engineers provide foundation recommendations, advice on ground conditions, soil infiltration, undertake stage one, two and three contamination assessments and remediation verification.

Harrison Group Environmental is a geotechnical and environmental specialist, providing expert and cost‑effective investigation, testing and consultancy services to our clients for almost 50 years. We are a progressive employer offering a competitive remuneration package including a negotiated salary, profit sharing, company pension scheme, a wide range of training to learn the role, and paid membership of a professional organisation. Working with Harrison Group has the added benefit of being part of a successful and vibrant group of professionals, with opportunities for career progression and professional development.

Candidates as a minimum should have a degree in a relevant subject (typically geology, environmental science, or similar), a full UK driving licence, excellent communications skills (both written and verbal), organisational and time‑management skills, and a keen interest in learning new skills.

If you are interested in starting your career in ground investigation, please submit your CV by email to: recruitment@harrisongroupuk.com, and let us know if you have a preference in office location.

Harrison Group is an equal opportunities employer.
