We're looking for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our progressive, award-winning Mechanical & Electrical Engineering team in our Plymouth office, joining our 2026 Graduate Programme, where you'll be delivering sustainable projects for our communities, planet, and society.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team that specialises in the delivery of building services, energy, and sustainability services. We offer a fresh approach by getting involved early, working collaboratively with the design team, guiding design development, and using our expertise to help clients make key decisions—an approach that always results in a building that delivers.
As a Stantec graduate, you will collaborate with your team and wider cohort, developing your expertise within an exciting and creative interdisciplinary environment. You will benefit from strong support from both office and technical colleagues, as well as significant guidance from senior staff within our open and collaborative culture.
Your Role
* Work on live projects from the start across a variety of sectors, from healthcare to education.
* Conduct mechanical services design and calculations.
* Work with supervisors on scheme design concepts.
* Use Revit and 3D BIM modelling software in design production.
* Coordinate designs with other professional disciplines.
* Produce detailed designs and drawings.
* Contribute to or develop energy and sustainability strategy and conduct dynamic thermal modelling.
* Participate in design team and client meetings.
* Undertake site visits or surveys.
* Research and implement new technologies.
* Engage in continuous CPD and learning opportunities.
* Typical systems include Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Control Systems, above-ground drainage systems, and hot- and cold-water services.
About You
We value your potential over past experience. Along with a degree and/or master's qualification in a relevant mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or building services engineering subject—and a keen interest in our industry—we would love to receive your application if you are:
* An Adapter — able to remain calm in new and changing situations, comfortably switching between a variety of dynamic and exciting tasks.
* A Perseverer — composed in the face of setbacks, approaching challenges with confidence and determination.
* A Collaborator — effective working with lots of different people, considering others' perspectives to shape better outcomes.
* A Problem-Solver — keen to share your thoughts based on what you see, unafraid to challenge conventional thinking.
Working Pattern
Graduates are asked to come into the office 4 days per week to ensure colleagues are able to provide the appropriate level of support.
What We Offer
* A competitive salary.
* Private medical insurance.
* A range of benefits, including holiday buy and sell, group income protection, and life assurance.
* A permanent employment contract, demonstrating our commitment to your long-term career at Stantec.
* A professional progression plan, supporting you to attain professional status.
* A supportive and collaborative team environment, Early Careers peer group, and wider ERG network.
