Purpose of the Role & Job Brief
Underwood Meat Company is looking to recruit a number of Production Operatives in its’ fast-paced
meat production facility.
Main responsibilities include preparing meat products efficiently to customer and company
requirements, package complete orders to customer specifications, ensure compliance with metal
detection procedures and maintain stock rotation in finished goods areas.
To perform general duties as required within the order production area of the plant in accordance
with verbal and documented instruction (dependent on customer and company requirements).
Hours of Work
Monday to Sunday 06:00 to 14:30
(5 out of 6 days, Sunday will be on a rota basis. Saturday is currently not a working day)
Job Location
Within the factory at our Rotherham Head Office; positions are also available at our other locations.
Responsibilities
The job entails a broad remit of duties, these will include:
Following the instructions of management and supervisors (who will be made known to the operative
at induction), within the capability and remit of the specific role expectations and completed
associated training.
Main responsibilities include preparing meat products efficiently to customer and company
requirements, package complete orders to customer specifications, ensure compliance with metal
detection procedures and maintain stock rotation in finished goods areas.
The employee will also have a responsibility to keep their work area clean and tidy, at all times, and
dispose of waste in the appropriate manner.
Personal hygiene
Following the company hygiene rules and always keeping the highest standard of personal hygiene
i.e., frequent use of hygiene stations and ensuring work clothing and equipment are in a hygienic
condition throughout the working day.
Cleaning duties
Keeping work area clean and tidy this may also include plant cleaning as and when required (training
on the correct usage of chemicals and safety equipment will be given by the company).
The employee will be expected to make basic decisions related to their work in relation to the
standard of product produced (related to experience), if the employee is not confident to make such
decisions, then their supervisor should be consulted.
It will be the responsibility of the operative to bring to the attention of a supervisor or manager any
part of this job description that they think unreasonable (before signing the job description).
If at any time (after commencing work) you are asked to undertake anything that you consider outside
your job description it must immediately be brought to the attention of a supervisor or manager.
Qualifications
No formal qualifications are required.
On the job training will be given in all required tasks.
