Job Title: Intellectual Property Paralegal
Location: Belfast, United Kingdom (Hybrid)
Overview:
We are seeking a Paralegal to join Baker McKenzie's highly-regarded Intellectual Property team in Belfast. The successful candidate will support the firm's IP practice, handling a high volume of IP prosecution, maintenance, and transactional work in a deadline-driven environment. This role involves working with global IP portfolios and requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong coordination skills across diverse teams and cultures.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Manage technical trade mark formalities including registration, prosecution, renewal, and post-registration steps.
2. Prepare client reports independently.
3. Support global IP M&A activities, including recordal of assignments, licenses, and security interests, liaising with local counsel and internal stakeholders.
4. Conduct comprehensive IP asset due diligence using official registries and databases.
5. Assist in global anti-counterfeiting programs, including drafting guides, seizure notifications, and liaising with infringers.
6. Perform trade mark searches and draft high-quality search reports.
7. Develop expertise in IP law to support lawyers and clients effectively.
8. Ensure compliance with firm procedures and standards, managing deadlines proactively.
Qualifications:
* Relevant undergraduate degree with a 2.1 or above (preferred).
* Legal background with IP/trademark experience (preferred).
* Authorization to work in the UK.
Desirable Skills:
* CITMA qualification (advantageous).
* High attention to detail, strong organization, and prioritization skills.
* Proactive attitude and initiative.
* Ability to work independently and under pressure.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
