Job Description
Our specialist Housing Sustainability and Net Zero team is expanding due to increased demand from social housing providers and public sector organizations. We seek individuals with proven industry experience in supporting housing sustainability programs to aid investment planning and delivery on the net zero carbon agenda.
Our Senior Consultants come from diverse backgrounds including energy and sustainability consultancies, multidisciplinary engineering firms, local authorities, and housing associations. They have played key roles in developing and delivering housing and real estate sustainability projects, with technical expertise in retrofit and some line management experience.
This role places you at the forefront of the UK's housing and public sectors' transition to net zero carbon. The specific responsibilities will align with your skills and experience, offering opportunities from developing net zero energy and ESG strategies to supporting project delivery on innovative projects like the Social Housing Retrofit Accelerator and Retrofit Accelerator for Homes.

Key tasks (not necessarily all in one person):
1. Line manage junior consultants and support their professional development to ensure excellent work delivery.
2. Assist in developing business cases for new service areas to expand our reach to new clients, sectors, and technologies.
3. Lead project management efforts, including client liaison, resource management, and budgeting.
4. Support social landlords and public sector bodies throughout their net-zero strategies and investment programs, from awareness and interest to completion.
5. Analyze housing asset data to benchmark energy performance and develop investment scenarios aligned with net zero targets.
6. Assist social landlords in measuring environmental performance and establishing ESG strategies and reporting frameworks.
7. Contribute to current industry assistance programs like the Social Housing Retrofit Accelerator, working directly with housing providers.
8. Identify new business opportunities and contribute to bids.

Qualifications
We seek a range of skills and experiences, not necessarily all in one individual, including:
Essential:
* Degree or equivalent experience in a sustainability or environment-related field, focusing on housing or the built environment
* Systematic project management experience with complex, multi-stakeholder projects
* Experience in data interpretation and utilization for decarbonization and asset planning
* Expertise in net zero and ESG policies in social housing
* Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
* Strong problem-solving abilities
* Relationship management skills from client-facing roles
Desirable:
* Experience in social housing/public sector asset management, finance, or development
* Construction and manufacturing sector experience, including contract management
* Experience in new build housing development
* Development and delivery of retrofit guidance/tools for housing providers
* Sustainable procurement and supply chain assessment
* Retrofit Coordinator training or similar energy qualifications, awareness of PAS2035
* Stakeholder engagement, especially with residents
* Team growth and management experience
* Business development skills
* Energy and carbon benchmarking expertise
* Knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks
* Ability to identify technical solutions for housing archetypes
