Senior Radiographer – X‑Ray (Bank)
Location: The Alexandra Hospital, Cheadle
Shift type: Bank shifts (as and when required)
Salary: Up to £30.00 per hour (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)
Overview
We are part of Circle Health Group, a leading independent healthcare provider. The Alexandra Hospital is looking for a Senior Radiographer to join the Imaging department. The role is a bank position that will supplement staffing during busy periods and cover for staff on leave or absence.
Duties
* Participate in the efficient and safe operation of the Imaging Department, providing a consistent, high‑quality service to patients and visitors.
* Carry out general and specialised radiographic procedures within your competence, as agreed with the Clinical Services Manager / Clinical Lead to high technical and quality standards, assessing patients and interpreting clinical requirements to determine appropriate techniques.
* Undertake imaging examinations in line with department operational procedures and policies, using techniques that minimise radiation dose while producing high‑quality diagnostic images.
* Practice good radiation protection and safety and observe Local Rules and Systems of Work.
* Comply with departmental IRMER and Radiation Safety Policies & Procedures.
* Participate in supervision, training and peer review within your area of competence or expertise.
Qualifications & Experience
* Previous experience working within the acute healthcare sector.
* Experience of customer care, including interacting with challenging customers and situations.
* Ability to undertake I.V. contrast injections.
* A Degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography.
* Healthcare Professionals Council (HCPC) registration.
* General radiographic background/training.
* Familiarity with IT systems such as RIS / PACS.
* Knowledge of the healthcare service sector and its systems and processes.
* Awareness of College of Radiographers and HCPC Code of Conduct / Accountability.
* Knowledge of Radiation Regulations.
* Successful completion of an approved Cannulation course.
