Day to day:
Insight Global is looking for an Application Engineer to join one of their largest manufacturing clients for a full time role.
This role is a vital addition to the Application Engineering team to help support the future growth strategy of the UK & Ireland Sales Company by providing technical support with both existing and new business opportunities with a focus on mobile systems, electrification and Hydrogen technologies.
Regularly visiting customers and accompanying account managers to assess customer requirements. Then provide a technical interface between the customer, the sales teams and divisions as well as assist with preparing customer quotations.
You will be working closely with account managers to identify future potential opportunities and providing front line technical support to field sales presenting proposals to customers by designing systems and sub-systems in line with customer requirements. You will maintain an up-to-date knowledge of products and technology within the fluid power industry while throughout following Parker Corporate policies and procedures.
Must haves:
• Senior experience as an Application Engineer or Sales Development Engineer
• Strong understanding of mobile hydraulic systems and fluid power design
• Ability to read and create hydraulic circuit diagrams using 2D CAD (e.g., Hydraw)
• Strong proficiency in designing and integrating multi-component systems
• Strong techno-functional stakeholder management skills and presentation skills
• Excellent communication skills for direct interaction with customers
• Willingness to travel across the UK, typically once per week
• Clean driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for travel (mileage reimbursed)
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (HNC/ONC with apprenticeship)
Plusses:
• Experience in a client-facing engineering or technical support role
• Additional 3D CAD experience
• Prior exposure to electrification projects (e.g., mobile trucks, rescue vehicles)
• Familiarity with pneumatics and industrial hydraulics
• Interest in future leadership opportunities within the team
