Psychology Graduate Opportunity - Teaching Assistant – LSA – Mentor
Are you a recent Psychology graduate interested in working with students who have diverse learning and behavioural needs?
This opportunity can help you start your career by providing paid work experience in a school setting, supporting children with additional learning needs.
The opportunity:
This role is ideal for aspiring youth justice workers, prison liaison officers, or behaviour mentors. It offers first-hand experience in a specialist school environment, working with students with SEMH needs, Autism, and complex needs that may require personal care support. The schools will match your skills, interests, and career goals.
Summary:
* Graduate Learner Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker
* £75 to £90 daily rate (5-day week, 8:30am to 4:00pm)
* Special needs schools and mainstream settings with specialist provision (SEMH, ASC, challenging behaviour)
* Full-time and part-time roles, flexible hours, short and long-term contracts
* Start as soon as you graduate or in April/September 2023
What is involved:
* Providing assistance and supervision for children’s behaviour during the school day
* Helping children understand and participate in class activities
* Assisting with note-taking, literacy, and numeracy support
* Working with individual learners or small groups
* Encouraging social skills development and supporting individual needs
* Building confidence and motivation
* Participating in team meetings and training
* Maintaining progress records
* Supporting safeguarding regulations
What is required:
* An undergraduate degree in Psychology is desirable
* Experience working with vulnerable children is highly desirable
* Good education levels in English and Maths – A Levels preferred
* A cooperative working style and problem-solving approach
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, caring attitude
* Flexibility in working patterns
