Assistant Headteacher : Inclusion and SEND

Are you an experienced and visionary inclusion leader ready to take the next step in your career? This exciting Assistant Headteacher opportunity in Waltham Forest offers the chance to shape and lead an ambitious whole:school approach to SEND and inclusion from September 2026.

A highly inclusive, community:focused primary school in Waltham Forest is seeking to appoint a committed Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion and SEND on a permanent, full:time basis. This is a key leadership role for an experienced SENCo or senior leader who is ready to influence strategy, drive improvement, and ensure every child is supported to achieve their full potential.

Position: Assistant Headteacher : Inclusion and SEND
Location: Waltham Forest
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Permanent, Full:Time
Salary: L4:L9 ( 59,859 : 61,177)

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and develop whole:school SEND and inclusion strategy
Champion inclusive practice from EYFS : KS2
Oversee provision including a specialist Autism Resource Provision
Coach, mentor and develop staff to improve inclusive teaching
Work in partnership with parents, carers, and external agencies
Contribute to senior leadership and whole:school improvement planning
Drive high expectations and remove barriers to learning for all pupils

The successful candidate will have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
National Award for SEND Coordination (NASENCO)
Significant experience in primary education
Proven leadership experience in SEND
Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
A clear commitment to equity, inclusion and improving outcomes for all learners
Strong emotional intelligence, resilience, and collaborative leadership skills
