Job overview

We have an opportunity for an experienced Radiographer to join us in playing an essential role supporting AHP lead and Clinical speciality Managers by facilitating education, training and practice development within the directorate establishing a high standard of education for all clinically based staff and students. The focus of the role will be to coordinate and support undergraduate education and students undertaking placement at the York and Scarborough hospitals.

You will be developing training packages in order to deliver both practical and theory training sessions to undergraduate registered and non registered staff, new team members, students and will participate in raising the profile of radiography to schools and universities by attending open days and recruitment fayres.

The clinical educator will work closely with the Trust AHP education team and external HEI partners to ensure a high quality of student education and support., with a high level of responsibility for ensuring the assessment of undergraduate students in undertaken in the appropriate way for the HEI. They will negotiate student placement with HEI and ensure that student numbers attending the site(s) comply with the audited standard. They will also participate in regional and national discussions on education and its delivery within the clinical setting

Main duties of the job

1. Work in partnership with AHP lead, Clinical speciality Managers, Advanced Practitioners, and risk and safety manager and will be responsible for implementing evidence-based, patient focused practice. They will work within the clinical area, working with staff to facilitate the development of skills in order to integrate education and practice development, thus enhancing quality care delivery from both registered and unregistered workforce.
2. To be accountable for the training within the radiography service and will act as a clinical role model. They will work collaboratively to develop and deliver an ongoing programme of training and education for the undergraduate provision of radiography within the Radiography department across all sites. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the development of department
3. Lead and facilitate audit and research and will function as a role model for staff within the clinical area, enabling and supporting the development of interdisciplinary and cross site working to ensure the sharing of good practice and delivery of high quality, effective and efficient care.

12. Recognised teaching/assessing qualification or willingness to undertake this

Experience

13. Significant experience in a qualified radiographer role
14. Current experience in relevant clinical speciality.
15. Delivery of education and training within clinical speciality
16. Awareness of current issues in health care and Standards of Professional Practice
