First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Development Engineer on behalf of one of our clients.
As a key member of a small team of experts, you will be engaged in engineering project work, to develop and improve metal packaging products and manufacturing processes, from ideas and concepts, through development and on to implementation.
Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Use CAD (SolidWorks) to design metal packaging components, tools, and machine parts.
2. Organise and undertake product and process development work in the technical facilities, setting up equipment and manufacturing samples for testing, demonstration and customer trials.
3. Evaluation and proving of new product specifications.
4. Generation of product manufacturing standards and specifications.
5. Transfer technology into the manufacturing plants, preparing the necessary documentation, providing commissioning support and demonstrating capability against dimensional and performance requirements.
6. Provide a problem solving resource to the operations, helping resolve manufacturing issues.
Skills and Qualifications:
7. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent subject discipline or HNC/equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.
8. A strong mechanical design ability with CAD experience.
9. Ability to perform hands on tooling and machine set-up.
10. Problem solving ability.
11. Able to drive project work with the minimum of supervision.
12. Full driving licence & ability to travel.
Desirable:
13. Experience in manufacturing environment.
14. Second European language.
