About Canterbury Cathedral
Canterbury Cathedral is the Cathedral of the Archbishop of Canterbury, the leader of the Church of England and symbolic leader of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Located in Canterbury, Kent, it is one of the oldest Christian structures in England and forms part of a World Heritage Site.
The Role
We are seeking 2x dedicated and professional Cathedral Constable, on a casual fixed term basis, until Sept-26 to join its constabulary team. This is a rare opportunity to work within one of the worlds most iconic sacred spaces, ensuring the safety, security, and dignity of the Cathedral precincts.
What you'll be doing as a Cathedral Constable
• Assisting members of the public as part of the Ministry of Welcome.
• Providing protection to all residents, staff and visitors to the Cathedral and its Precincts within Constabulary training guidelines and Operating procedures.
• Follow all relevant protocols in respect of Safeguarding.
• Maintaining Good Order within the Cathedral and its Precincts.
• Working closely with the Kings School Security team.
• Liaising with Kent Police teams with regards to external incidents and issues.
• Maintaining accurate records of incidents in reports, statements and notebooks.
• Communicating effectively in highly emotive and/or conflict situations.
• Monitoring the Cathedral CCTV system
• Successful candidate will be expected to complete training to become attested and will be fully supported to achieve this.
