SUPPORT WORKER JOBS WITH A DIFFERENCE - MANUAL LICENSE REQUIRED
You must be legally authorised to work in the UK. We are not currently able to offer visa sponsorship or assistance. Be part of an expanding support team in Kent. Immediate interviews available for both new to care and experienced staff. You will support autistic adults with their day-to-day needs and a wide range of activities including visits to theme parks, swimming, walking, and shopping. Excellent specialist training is provided.
You will ideally be a driver and able to drive manual vehicles and be comfortable driving the people we support in their mobility cars/people carriers.
On average our starting salary for a support worker is £25,812 per year (based on a 35-hour week and including one sleep-in per week at £60 per night). By working an additional 6 hours per week (41 hours total), you can earn £29,844 per year (including holiday allowance). Support Workers can earn significantly higher salaries by picking up overtime, with many experienced workers earning more than £30,000 per year.

Meet the Team
Our Brompton House site offers superb, supported living accommodation to 7 adult tenants (men and women), each with their own flat. Tenants participate in a wide range of activities, including cinema visits, coffee outings, community activities, and cooking. The specialist staff team look forward to welcoming a new colleague and enjoy social events such as BBQs and team catch-ups.
About the Role
Hours: 35 per week.
Shift: 3-week rota.
Location: Brompton House.
This is a permanent role with a well-established autistic care provider. The role is varied with opportunities for progression. We provide practical and emotional support to help adults enjoy active lives in the community. We support individuals on a 1:1 basis with complex needs, including physical and learning disabilities. We are an outstanding care employer and provide specialist PBS training, coaching, and ongoing support from our practice development team.

Responsibilities
* DRIVE A MOBILITY CAR OR SERVICE VEHICLE. MANUAL LICENSE REQUIRED (ESSENTIAL)
* Work with individuals who may display challenging behaviors, mental health issues, self-harm, or incidents such as running away, throwing objects, swearing or shouting, and property damage.
* Support individuals in community activities including bike rides, long walks, and shopping.
* Administering medication
* Assisting individuals with personal care and hygiene
* Be confident and experienced in lone working
* Sleep-in shifts are required for staff in CQC Registered and Supported Living services, with an allowance topped up to NLW
* Household tasks including cooking and cleaning
* Uphold privacy, confidentiality, and dignity
* Handle money for shopping and banking tasks
* Support individuals with additional needs, such as epilepsy, pica, or learning disabilities
* Form good working relationships with colleagues across services and maintain written records

About the Trust
Supporting over 80 people in Medway and across Kent, The Kent Autistic Trust provides services to meet the diverse needs of autistic people and those with associated neurodevelopmental conditions. Services include residential homes, supported living, day resource services, respite, and outreach.
